Paul was able to do great miracles, and these men tried to replicate it using the name of Jesus as a magic phrase. It didn't work. What do we learn about the Spiritual Struggle from this passage? Why did this account cause the believers in Ephesus to get so serious about removing witchcraft from their lives that they destroyed 50,000 pieces of silver worth of books relating to magic and witchcraft? How do we respond when we see the realities of the spiritual world?

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Acts. In Acts 18, we find Paul continuing his missionary journey in Corinth, where he appears to run out of money (perhaps his own savings, or contributions from other churches) and we find Paul becoming a tent maker to survive and continue his mission of sharing the gospel with others. It must have been discouraging. In the letters to the Corinthians, we see a lack of value for the work and truth Paul brought. Yet, Paul didn't quit, he kept pressing on.

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl speaks on Acts 17:1-10 where Paul and Silas come to Thessalonica. They were only there for a short time before the Jews stirred up a mob and they had to flee. Yet, the baby Christians of Thessalonica continued to grow and the church ended up flourishing there amidst persecutions. Later, Paul would write 1 & 2 Thessalonians to the church there addressing questions that had come up. Many wondered about the Day of the Lord and Jesus' return.
