Romans 1:1 Paul
Monday May 27, 2024
Monday May 27, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl looks at the author of Romans. Who was Paul? Paul ran with very important people, he had a magnificent resume. Yet, he hated Jesus, how dare Jesus call Himself God. But, that would change, when he met Jesus on the road. Even Paul's name changes after his encounter. He was formerly known as Saul in Acts and yet, afterword called Paul. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." 2 Cor 5:17

Why Study Romans?
Monday May 20, 2024
Monday May 20, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl begins his series on Romans, with the question of why do we study it? Romans contains the basic statement of what is Christianity. Humans throughout history always look to something as their authority. The question is do we look to God and His Word or do we look to human ideas. Our thinking must be submitted to God's Word. When we look at Romans, we find the path to safety for each of us laid out according to God's plan, not man's.

Acts 28:1-10; Between a Rock and a Hard Place
Monday May 06, 2024
Monday May 06, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Acts. In Acts 28:1-10, we come to the story of Paul in Malta and his miraculous deliverance from a snake bite. We see the natives first believe that Paul was a bad person because so many bad things happened to him, then switch to thinking him a god when he didn't die. Both were wrong. It is super easy and very human to fall into wrong thinking about our hardships in life.

Acts 27: Paul's Confidence
Monday Apr 29, 2024
Monday Apr 29, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl comes to Acts 27 in his series on Acts. In this chapter, Luke details how the boat, Paul is a prisoner on, is shipwrecked. How after many days of being blown, lost in the sea, all hope was lost that they might be saved. Yet, Paul had a confidence that even the deepest, darkest storms could not shake. How did this confidence, this calm under fire, come to be? Can we have that same calm and confidence?

Acts 25-26; Paul the Covenant Theologian
Monday Apr 22, 2024
Monday Apr 22, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Acts. In Acts 25, Festus succeeds Felix as Roman Governor and Paul is forced to appeal to Caesar. In Acts 26, Paul is brought before Festus and King Agrippa to give his defense. In this defense, Paul states that his message has only been that which the Prophets and Moses said would come and that he is being judged for the hope of the promise made by God to the Fathers. Paul’s message wasn’t new, for God had not changed. The truths of the New Testament are contained in the old.

Acts 24; Paul's Defense before Felix
Monday Apr 15, 2024
Monday Apr 15, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Acts. Paul, in Acts 24, is brought before the Roman Governor Felix and defends himself from the Jews' accusations. Felix was a notoriously unjust governor. Pastor Kohl looks at different aspects of Paul's defense. In the end, Paul boils down the issues to his belief in the resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust. He claims that this belief motivates his life. Does it motivate ours?

Acts 23:11-30; When God is Silent
Monday Apr 08, 2024
Monday Apr 08, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series in Acts. In Acts 23, we see Paul stuck a prisoner of the Romans, it had to have been a very discouraging time. Was this because Paul didn't listen to the warnings God sent? Had Paul messed up God's plan? Was this the end of Paul's ability to do ministry? Beaten, rejected by his own, thrown into prison, and no longer free to plan his own life, in the midst of this chaos, God was still in control. Even when God seems to be hidden behind the scenes, He is the one setting the scene and controlling each phase of it.
