Monday Sep 16, 2024
Monday Sep 16, 2024
Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 4, Paul spends a lot of time talking about Abraham. How he was saved and how he is the father of all true Christians. Who was Abraham? Abraham/Abram is mentioned 285X in the bible, he is important. As we look at Abraham's life what do we find? How can we apply the patterns we find in Abraham's life to our own? Pastor Kohl explores the concepts of being called through faith, not of our own works, yet being called to be separate from the world, and finally being called to be a friend of God, Himself.

Romans 3:21-4:8; Justification: Paul & James
Monday Sep 09, 2024
Monday Sep 09, 2024
In this sermon, Pastor Kohl speaks on Romans 3:21-4:8 where Paul begins to explain that it is not works, but rather faith that justifies us before God. Paul uses the example of Abraham and claims that Abraham’s belief was accounted as righteousness. In Romans 3:28, he says “that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.” Yet, James 3:24 says “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” At first glance this seems completely contradictory. How can we reconcile these two statements? Pastor Kohl explains how in this sermon.

Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 3:21-26, having laid out the failure of mankind for several chapters, Paul points out that our only hope is in Jesus. God is both perfectly just and, yet, also provides the justification and mercy we so desperately need in Jesus. In this sermon, Pastor Kohl speaks on the concept of Soli Deo Gloria (to God alone be the Glory). How does that impact our lives? How should it impact our lives?

Pastor Kohl speaks on the two great covenants alluded to in Romans 3:19-21, the Covenant of Works and the Covenant of Grace.

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 3:9-20; we see God's perspective on humanity. It isn't pretty. If no human seeks after God; how can anyone be saved? Without God it is impossible. Salvation is not of works, but a gift from God. To even seek after God; requires God's working in our hearts to create that desire.

Can God be Trusted? Romans 3:3-4
Monday Jul 22, 2024
Monday Jul 22, 2024
Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans with Romans 3:3-4. Here Paul asks the question does the unbelief of the Jews (their falling away from God) make God's faithfulness without effect? We can ask today, if seeming Christians fall away from the faith does that prove that God's promises of perseverance and keeping His own to the end are lies? The answer, of course, is no, for God cannot lie. It is against His very nature. God's promises of keeping His own chosen ones are sure, but the question is who is His own? In this sermon, Pastor Kohl delves into this.
