John 16:33 Overcoming the World
Sunday Jul 31, 2022
Sunday Jul 31, 2022
In John 16:33b, Jesus says "be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." What does it look like to overcome the world? How could Jesus say that right before he was crucified; betrayed by a close friend? In this sermon, Pastor Kohl goes over this passage and looks at what it means to overcome the world vs. the world overcoming us. A hint, don't get trapped by the cookies.

Not As Orphans John 14:15-18
Sunday May 29, 2022
Sunday May 29, 2022
Unfortunately, this recording starts a little after the sermon starts. Basically what was missed was as follows. John 14:15-18 was read;
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you."
This was put into the context of John 14:1. Where Jesus says "let not your heart be troubled.." And the whole passage is in the context of Jesus going to the cross and the disciples are going to be scattered. Often times things look bad. Think Joseph in Egypt, the 400 years of captivity in Egypt, and other stories in the Bible, History, or in our lives. It can be tempting to think that God has forsaken His people. It is from this point in the message that this recording picks up.
