In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 5:1, Paul talks about how we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. To understand how big a deal this is, we need to examine what the situation is without Christ. Having God at war with us, is incredible bad. We can never win against Him. He is a consuming fire, a perfect Judge who will not let any transgressions slide. How can we possibly hope to escape? Yet, we can find peace with Him through Jesus, what an amazingly big deal!

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 4; Paul is looking at the faith of Abraham. One of the major questions, if not the question so often facing Christians is do we believe God? This is the same issue Abram faced. God's promises so often fly in the face of common sense, are we just crazy to trust Him?

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 4, Paul talks about how circumcision was a sign and a seal of the righteousness of the faith of Abraham. Do the outward signs of being part of the people of God; such as circumcision and baptism equal truly being part of God's people? What is their place? This is an area where a lot of people get tripped up, back then as well as today. Paul speaks of the believing Jew, being co-heirs with the believing Gentile. In Ephesians he talks about how they are the same body in Christ. This he calls the great mystery of Christ.

Pastor Kohl continues his series on Romans. In Romans 4, Paul spends a lot of time talking about Abraham. How he was saved and how he is the father of all true Christians. Who was Abraham? Abraham/Abram is mentioned 285X in the bible, he is important. As we look at Abraham's life what do we find? How can we apply the patterns we find in Abraham's life to our own? Pastor Kohl explores the concepts of being called through faith, not of our own works, yet being called to be separate from the world, and finally being called to be a friend of God, Himself.

In this sermon, Pastor Kohl speaks on Romans 3:21-4:8 where Paul begins to explain that it is not works, but rather faith that justifies us before God. Paul uses the example of Abraham and claims that Abraham’s belief was accounted as righteousness. In Romans 3:28, he says “that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.” Yet, James 3:24 says “You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.” At first glance this seems completely contradictory. How can we reconcile these two statements? Pastor Kohl explains how in this sermon.
